It's been a hectic week for homeless dogs in Grand Island.

The Central Nebraska Humane Society is celebrating the national event, "Home 4 the Holidays."

It was a huge success in 2011 when almost every single dog in the shelter was temporarily fostered.

This year only 8 dogs have been taken home, but they say the good news is that 35 dogs have been adopted since December 20th.

Most of the 8 dogs that went "Home 4 the Holidays" are expected to be adopted by their respective foster families.

The temporary foster program does last through January 3rd.

The Humane Society says there are 26 eager pups ready to find their "forever" homes.

If the election was today, who would you vote for Grand Island mayor?
