Construction on the 2.8 million dollar truck bypass in Adams County is set to begin today. Last October, Adams County Supervisors approved the route that will run from 42nd street at Highway 281 to Showboat Boulevard.

Beginning today, North Showboat Boulevard between 26th and Lochland Road will be closed to thru traffic. A detour route will be marked for routing purposes on Lochland Road, Highway 281 and 26th Street.

The bypass didn't come without controversy. Homeowners voiced concerns about trucks driving through the area, but Supervisors said the new route would improve safety and bring more business to the area.
