The state of Nebraska already has one Athletic Director from the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater, Shawn Eickhorst of the Huskers.
Will the UNK Lopers also hire an AD from that school in Dariyland?
Paul Plinske is current AD at UW–Whitewater and has been sicne 2004.
He succeeded Shawn Eickhorst at the Divisoin III school.
Now he'd like to become AD at Division 2 Nebraska–Kearney succeeding Jon McBride.
If he does, he won't yield anything to the Huskers and his friend Shawn Eickhorst.
"Shawn has been a great friend of mine and has been a great resource, but Shawn would become a little bit of a competitor for UNK athletics.
We're going to go after our fan base, we're going to go after our donors, we're going to try to make Loper athletics the best it can be in the state of Nebraska.
With the transition that happened at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Nebraska–Kearney is in a unique position in football, wrestling and volleyball most notably."
Of course it feels good for Nebraska–Kearney not to have to compete with Nebraska–Omaha for football and wrestling recruits sicne UNO dropped both sports.
Under Paul Plinski, Wisconsin–Whitewater has won 13 national titles in various sports over his decade of rule.
One more candidate will be on campus next week before Chancellor Doug Kristensen makes his decision about the new AD.
