One of the perks of being University of Nebraska-Kearney’s chancellor?
A 2011 Dodge Durango.
UNK’s Doug Kristensen is among the many University employees who receive perks from private funds.
The University of Nebraska Foundation has provided cars and country club memberships to university employees for years.
Bo Pelini, for example, gets a 2012 Nissan Armada and a Lincoln Country Club membership.
Kristensen calls these funds crucial and says they benefit employees and students alike.
He says a car is important for an employee who travels extensively on the job.
"I have no idea who else gets those. I know that to do my job those are important things to do,” he said. “They were considerations for me taking the job.”
Kristensen added that a country club membership can be helpful when entertaining donors.
