The Hastings teen who escaped police custody and left officers searching for days has officially been charged with felony escape.
17 year old Zachary Vaught was in Adams County Court this morning. Vaught now facing a class 4 felony escape charge. He is also facing two new charges from a previous incident: Assault and felony theft.
Vaught ran from police custody one week ago after an arrest for a probation violation. That probation stemmed from an assault in 2013. The teenager surrendered to officers at the Hastings Police Department 3 days later.
This morning a public defender was appointed to Vaught and a court date of May 2nd was set.
