One business is celebrating Veterans a day ahead of Independence Day.

Hastings Ford Lincoln wrapped up their 2nd annual Military Appreciation Event Thursday.

Since May 9th, they sold 224 vehicles, with $25.00 from each sale going towards veterans.

Of the seven entries, two finalists were chosen; U.S. Army Veteran Ernest Johnson,
the recipient of three Purple Hearts, and U.S. Air Force Veteran, Gerald Carpenter.

They were both presented with a cash prize and a personalized flag display case.

"It means a lot to me," Johnson said. "It shows that a lot of people appreciate the military people and I sure appreciated it too."

"It's great," Carpenter said. "It's nice to be recognized for the other guys, you know, we were all in it as a team."

The majority of the money raised will go to a scholarship fund for children of veterans.
