Virgil was born to William Jr. and Frieda Sundermeier (Obermeier) November 9, 1928 in Phillips, Nebraska. Virgil graduated from Phillips High School in 1947 and started farming with his father on their family farm. On February 12, 1950 he met and married Jeannine Fox. After his father’s death Virgil purchased the family farm and sold Delkalb seed corn with his brother Merle for 28 years.
Virgil and Jeannine raised their two daughters and in spring of 2008 Virgil said, “It’s time to move to town”. Virgil and Jeannine enjoyed RVing and spent many winters in Hemet, CA. They also enjoyed dancing at the Platte Deutche, meeting new friends, going to the Saddle Club, having lunch with friends at Burger King, and belonged to the Eagles Camping group. Every Friday for many years Virgil could be found at the Grand Island Co-op while waiting while Jeannine was at the Hair Dressers. After the passing of his wife, Virgil enjoyed getting morning coffee with some neighbors in his community, as well as getting more involved in the community as an active participant on the board.

Dorothy Moeller of Grand Island and sister-in-law, Doris Sundermeier of Grand Island.
