William S. “Bill” Rae, Jr., 73, of Kearney, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at his home in Kearney. Funeral services will be Friday, April 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney. Pastor Duane Duley will officiate and burial will follow at Kearney Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Kearney American Legion Post #52, the Kearney V.F.W. Post #759 and the United States Air Force Military Honors Team. Visitation will be Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and 1 hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Lutheran Church. A message of condolence, tribute or memory can be left at www.hlmkfuneral.com. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements. 

Bill was born on November 27, 1940 in Ft. Dodge, IA to William S. and Mary K. (Berkland) Rae, Sr. He graduated from Ft. Dodge High School with the class of 1958. Bill served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He moved to Kearney in 1976 and worked as a salesman for Dick Hill Ford before opening Kearney Auto Sales with his friend and business partner, Stan Mast. He enjoyed playing at the World Series of Poker Tournaments at The Horseshoe and Bellagio Casino’s in Las Vegas. He was a dedicated member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. 

Surviving relatives include his children, Valerie and K.D. Williams of Kearney, NE, Brian and Jinny Rae of Elwood, NE and Janel and Harry Baldwin of East Galesburg, IL; Grandchildren, Brandi and husband Nathan Erdman of West DesMoines, IA, Lacey Williams of Kearney, NE, Hunter Rae of Indianapolis, IN, Lexie Williams of Kearney, NE, Kent Rae of Elwood, NE and Ethan Baldwin of East Galesburg, IL; Great Grandchildren, Mason and Miley. 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
