After a change in charges, the York man accused of driving drunk and killing an Aurora school teacher was back in York County District Court this morning.
37 year old Otis Newcomb was scheduled to appear in District Court at 10 AM for a Plea in Abatement hearing. Newcomb had previously pleaded not guilty to motor vehicle homicide in December.
However, charges against Newcomb were changed months later after a judge ruled evidence had been taken with probable cause. Newcomb is now facing felony manslaughter, tampering with physical evidence and second degree assault.
According to police, Newcomb was driving on November 2nd when his vehicle crossed the center line striking a vehicle carrying 31 year-old Lauren Akerson. Akerson was pronounced dead at the scene.
