Oklahoma, Texas, mabe Kansas. Pick a state likely to experience a tornado outbreak and chances are it would be one these three. Minnesota? I don’t think so. But today debris is scattered all over the Land of a Thousand Lakes on a day in which there were 36 reports of tornadoes.
Areal views of the town of Wadena is abject destruction with buses tossed and twisted in metal. A quarter of the town is in ruin with the high school having its roof torn off and a two block area virtually wiped out. Fortunately no deaths were reported but 20 injured.
South of Minneapolis, a tornado tore a house from its foundation and dropped it 50 feet away–fortunately the owners weren’t home at the time.
In a couple of weeks we’ll be on the other side of the peak time of severe weather season. After seeing the Minnesota images, I for one am hoping for an uneventful transition into the heat of summer.
