Nebraska's claim to the world's largest hail stone could be in jeopardy.  Violent storms ravaged South Dakota on Saturday producing high winds, tornadoes and large hail.
Check out the picture of this hail stone near the town of Vivian, posted on the National Weather Service website out of Aberdeen.  The 181/2" circumference would still be a bit smaller that the 18.75" circumference of the Aurora stone.  The South Dakota stone did appear to have a little bigger diameter 8" to  Aurora's 7.  The Weather Service will investigate and  have the final determination so stay tuned.
