With Independence Day upon us, it is appropriate to reflect on the things that make America great. Among them are home and community.
In Grand Island, home and community are the cornerstone of Habitat for Humanity's mission. Joining in on building a solid foundation for one area family is Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. The fraternal organization has put up 55% of the cost to build Grand Island Area Habitat for Humanity's 65th home. In addition, they have encouraged area Lutherans to join in on the project.
Through the Thrivent Builds program, Lutherans are contributing 10% of the cost to build and providing volunteer labor to build the home. Area Lutherans still have an opportunity to volunteer as individuals or as a group, with the home scheduled for completion in September.
This is the third Thrivent Builds sponsored home in the Grand Island area, with a previous Lutheran Build sponsored by Aid Association for Lutherans and Lutheran Brotherhood which later merged to become Thrivent.
With Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent sharing in the desire to help low-income families improve their housing situations, this partnership has seen families around the globe realize their dreams of home-ownership.
