Our dog was attacked by not one but two yellow breast kingbirds protecting their nest. They "dive bombed" our dog anytime she went near the nest. The birds were very aggressive and they actually pecked at her face. We tried to protect the dog by waving off the "kamikazie like" birds with brooms and foam wackanoodles. Crazy birds need psychiatric help!

Mockingbirds and Blue Jays are particularly noted for this behavior also, and I have witnessed many attacks on cats and dogs that strayed too close to their nest. The best thing is just to leave the birds alone until their fledglings leave the nest.

We had birds like this at our house too. They wouldn't leave our cat alone. My husband went outside near the nest and one of the birds continued to swoop down almost hitting him. We just left the birds alone and eventually they flew away. Neat video.
