Kiwanis One Day is an annual event where Kiwanians and members of the Kiwanis-family from all over the world set aside one day to join together for a day of service. This means that members of Kiwanis, Aktion Club, Kiwanis Junior, Circle K, Key Club, Builders Club, and K-Kids work together to make their local communities a better place. The event takes place each year on the first Saturday of April.
This is the third year our Hastings, NE Kiwanis family held a Kiwanis One Day event and celebrated with a "Trifecta". Over 40 Kiwanians participated in three service locations:
1.) covering and cleaning up windows in the big barn and helping to build a shed at the Prairie Loft Center for Outdoor and Agricultural Learning (www.prairieloft.org)
2.) Planting 20 trees at the arboretum behind Hastings Museum of Cultural and Natural History with the Highland Park Arboretum Committee
3.) Packaging meals for Kids Against Hunger of Hastings, sponsored by Hastings Kiwanis Club. and where nutritious meals are packaged by partnerships with organizations community-wide. They are then distributed to malnourished children throughout Nebraska, the US, and over 40 countries world-wide with assistance by the Nebraska Orphan Grain Train .
