GI student wins Ag poster contest

Knickrehm student wins Agriculture Week in Nebraska poster contest; Gov. Heineman will visit Knickrehm on May 11 Will Nabity, a fifth-grade student at Knickrehm Elementary School, won first place in the fifth- and sixth-grade division of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture's Agriculture Week in Nebraska poster contest. Stephanie Matal, also a fifth-grader at Knickrehm, finished third in the division. Knickrehm fifth-grader Diego Martinez won the Governor's Choice Award in the division. Their teacher is Diane Meyer.
Gov. Dave Heineman will visit Knickrehm Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Monday, May 11, to recognize the students, Knickrehm Principal Andrew Rinaldi said. Each poster illustrates the contest's theme, "Nebraska Agriculture: Growing the Good Life."
Winning posters will be featured in various Nebraska Department of Agriculture publications and special events. The winning posters may be viewed online at http://www.agr.state.ne.us/kids/09poster.htm.
This was the sixth year for the contest, which generated 1,072 entries from students in first through sixth grades from throughout Nebraska.
