The Pleasanton community invites you to join their age old community celebration this weekend – Old Settlers - June 5, 6, and 7. “It doesn’t feel like summer until Old Settlers,” said Dalinda Wendt. “My kids love the parade, pony rides, races in the park…and as a parent I enjoy sharing the same a safe, inexpensive, community celebration I grew up with. It’s like coming home.”
“Everyone is so busy and disjointed these days, especially during the summer. So we want Old Settlers to be a time to slow down, un-plug, refresh, reconnect and just enjoy being together as a family and as a community,” said committee member Anissa Paitz.
The 2009 theme for Old Settler’s is Looney Loup Adventures, leading the community to launch new activities. For example, paint ball tournament, poker walk, softball tournament, Looney Loup BBQ, and special Sunday church services with a horse whisper. “The pony rides, inflatable jousting, pedal tractor pull and minnow races are really popular,” commented committee member Tracy Pritchard.
Pleasanton churches, families, and businesses help sponsor Old Settlers. “We have a lot to be proud of and to celebrate in Pleasanton. Outstanding youth, wonderful churches, progressive businesses…and a sunny welcoming community” said business owner Lisa Nichols. “Come see for yourself, come to Old Settlers…come home for the summer! ”
