September 11th –Patriots Day, Goodwill hosted their first Heroes on the Green Veterans Golf Tournament. The tournament was sponsored by H & H Distributing. The Sons of the American Legion assisted with all the planning and helped the day of the tournament. Twenty teams competed for great prizes, and special prizes were awarded to veterans. The tournament grossed $21,000, a good start for the first year.
State Treasurer Shane Osborne greeted every golfer on the 14th hole and putted with them, hoping to improve their scores. Shane thanked all the veterans for their service.

First Place was the team from Dee Price State Farm Insurance
Second Place was Prairie Soldiers AASF #2
Third Place went to Hansen International
Closest to the Pin was won by the Culligan Team
Chipping contest was won by the Prairie Soldiers
Putting contest was won by T & R Distributing-Sunheat
Entries included veterans from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Desert Storm and the Iraq/Afghanistan conflicts.
Proceeds from the event will directly benefit the Acquired Brain Injury Program (ABI). An “Acquired Brain Injury is defined as “an injury to the brain occurring after birth, many acquired brain injuries are traumatic brain injuries. These brain injuries are caused by an external physical force the top three causes are; 28% are from falls, 20% from Motor vehicle accidents, 19% Stuck by something…including those from sports. Common post injury issues include: memory problems, attention and comprehension problems, fatigue, slowed processing speed, depression and through process impairment, just to name a few.
